University of Colorado Boulder – Professional Lighting Education

CU Bolder Lighting Education for Professionals

The University of Colorado Boulder is now accepting applications for the 2025 – 2026 student cohort in the Architectural Lighting Certificate program. This program offers a comprehensive three-course nine-credit sequence designed to deepen your understanding and to sharpen your skills in architectural lighting. Students completing the program earn a graduate professional Certificate in Architectural Lighting credential from CU Boulder. The course sequence includes two online courses during the academic year (September to May) and concludes in July after a summer capstone course that includes a week of hands-on practical experience during an on-campus intensive in Boulder, with lighting measurements, visual experiments, design concepts for a space on campus, and the use of optical design tools. Prospective students can find further details and access the no-cost application on the program’s website.

Registration is also available for the Rocky Mountain Lighting Academy’s Short Course, being held on the beautiful CU campus in Boulder from May 29 through June 1, 2025. The course emphasizes hands-on learning experiences, and the class size is limited to ensure a fun, interactive experience. Further details and registration information can be found on the Short Course program’s website. Early bird discounted pricing ends on Feb 28, so sign up soon!
