Signify recently unveiled its facilities to 3D print light shades and luminaires in the Netherlands, and plans to establish 3D printing factories in the US, India and Indonesia.

In October 2019, a group of leaders from industry, academia, and government gathered at the Lighting Research Center (LRC) in Troy, New York for the LRC Summit. The goal of the Summit was to inspire discussion and shape the future of lighting, where the industry plays a strategic, recognized role in benefiting society and the environment — from improving human health to enhancing food production to managing clean energy in the new electric grid.

Nearly 500 lighting professionals and guests recently attended the 2018 Lumen West Awards gala. Hosted by the Illuminating Engineering Society Los Angeles Section (IESLA), the program celebrated excellence in lighting design and encouraged the next generation of lighting designers with a record-breaking $36,000 in scholarships awarded.

The California Energy Alliance (CEA) is an organization dedicated to promoting deep energy savings, sustainable energy generation, and integration in the State of California. Comprised of representatives of a broad range of organizations, CEA actively participates in the development and implementation of building energy standards and other initiatives.

The AIA has announced it will lobby against inequities in the House and Senate versions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which eliminates the Historic Tax Credit and excludes architects and other small business service professions from lower tax rates. AIA’s president said if this legislation passes, Congress will be making a “terrible mistake.”
