Construction contractors expect increasing demand for numerous types of projects in 2022 despite ongoing supply chain and labor challenges, as most firms plan to add workers this year, according to survey results released today by the Associated General Contractors of America and Sage.

Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) announced it is modernizing buildings across its four campuses and the West Hills Center, as well as its building automation system, with occupancy sensing, improved LED lighting control systems, and Internet of Things (IoT) platform as part of a COVID-19 mitigation initiative and infrastructure upgrade from Enlighted, a part of Building Robotics Inc., a Siemens company.

The All Things Lighting Association (ATLA) has been founded as a non-profit organization to advance, support, promote, and contribute to innovation, science, and engineering in all fields of lighting, including architecture, health, horticulture, and entertainment.

Last month Electrical Trends conducted the quarterly Pulse of Lighting Survey. Over 200 individuals from the electrical distribution channel – electrical distributors, manufacturer reps, lighting agents, and manufacturers – participated.

A study in the UK highlights the critical importance of proper hospital lighting, as well as other healthcare buildings. According to the study, patients who were served in a newly renovated hospital were able to be released a day and a half earlier than those who were served in the old buildings.

Commercial buildings in the United States are trending larger and more commonly feature LED lighting and occupancy sensors. While traditional light sources have declined in use, they remain prevalent in the nation’s estimated 5.9 million buildings, spelling a significant continuing upgrade opportunity, particularly in older buildings that have not been upgraded.
