The International WELL Building Institute today announced that the 2020 WELL Conference, originally postponed from March to August 16-19 in Scottsdale, AZ, has been canceled.

The Nuckolls Fund for Lighting Education has distributed the highest number of grants and awards in its 31 year history among its 2020 winners. Twelve recipients received a total of $230,000 in chunks ranging from $5,000 to $45,000.

Ecosense recently announced it has acquired assets from Soraa. Under the terms of the deal, Ecosense acquires the Soraa name, intellectual property and lamps, including the company’s signature VIVID, BRILLIANT HL and HEALTHY product lines. This move is the first foray into the professional lamp category for Ecosense.

Survey Suggests Construction Slowing Across the United States

Thirty-nine percent of contractors report that project owners have halted or canceled current construction projects amid deteriorating economic conditions, according to a survey recently released by the Associated General Contractors of America. The project cancellations are particularly severe in light of new data showing that 42 states added construction jobs through February.

IALD Launches New Guidelines for Manufacturers for WELL Rating Systems

In collaboration with the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) has launched guidelines for lighting manufacturers to help lighting designers more easily determine if their designs meet the WELL Building Standard criteria. The WELL v2™ pilot is the latest version of the WELL Building Standard, a rating system that focuses exclusively on the way that buildings and everything in them—including lighting—can improve our comfort and enhance our health and wellness.
