The Rise Of Dual-Bendable Silicone Light Strips

Another fascinating find at LEDucation, last week, were multiple manufacturers showing dual-bendable, solid silicone light strips. By dual-bendable, I mean it can bend in both dimensions perpendicular to the long linear run of the strip. Typically, bendable light strips were only bendable in one dimension perpendicular to the long linear run.

Tivoli’s VAST-EX and Trace Mini DUO

Tivoli “VAST-EX” is the latest architectural lighting solution, an exterior-rated fixture, specifically a grazer, available in both RGBW and static white options, with a 12-inch pixel size for color and intensity control. Inside the metal housing of the VAST-EX is a roughly 1” square profile light strip of solid silicone encasing spaced directional LED light sources. The VAST-EX is also marine rated.

Another Tivoli silicone encapsulated dual-bendable linear source is the Trace Mini DUO. See image above. The Trace Mini Duo has a versatile and durable compact 0.4” x 0.4” profile. It features flexible SMD LEDs, it bends seamlessly in both vertical and horizontal planes while delivering uniform, dot-free illumination with no voltage drop. Designed for exterior applications, its UV-stabilized silicone encasement resists yellowing and cracking, ensuring long-lasting performance. It has both IP67 and IK07 rated protection against water, dust, and impact, making it ideal for demanding environments. More information on Tivoli is available here.

Optique’s Millwork Series Powered By Nano Neon Light Engine

The Millwork Series is a collection of recessed and surface-mounted micro fixtures powered by Optique’s Nano Neon ultra-thin profile light engine. Designed with woodworkers in mind, the dimensions of each fixture match common router bits to ensure a clean, discreet, and professional finish in every application.

The Nano Neon engine is only 0.16” across the light emitting surface, and only 0.24” tall. It is silicone encased, dual-bendable, and emits continuous directional light from one side / surface. They are offered in 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K color temperatures with high color rendering and high R9 & R13 values. Color variation is kept within a two-step MacAdam ellipse for quality and consistency. Nano Neon is also wet location listed. More information on the Optique Nano Neon light engine can be found here.
