Product Monday: Indoor Sports Improved By Indirect Lighting

LED Lighting Supply has introduced a new indirect LED lighting solution for indoor sports courts and high-ceiling athletic facilities. This innovative system directs light upward to the ceiling or outward to the walls, addressing common drawbacks associated with conventional direct lighting options, such as harsh glare and uneven brightness. Reflectance of the ceiling and walls becomes more important with this indirect lighting approach, so high gloss paint on ceiling and walls is recommended with this approach.

Improved Visibility and Performance

The indirect lighting design significantly reduces glare on playing surfaces, minimizing reflections and shadows. This creates a distraction-free environment where athletes can focus on their performance without the visual challenges from direct lighting systems.

Energy Efficiency and Longevity

The 220-watt LED high bay light produces 30,800 lumens at 140 lpW, providing high light output. The luminaires are also dimmable.

Customizable Lighting

The dimmable functionality allows facility managers to adjust brightness levels to suit various activities, enhancing energy savings and building occupant comfort.

 Enhanced Safety and Spectator Experience

  • The uniform light distribution reduces the risk of athlete injury by providing more uniform, high-quality light distribution.
  • Reduced reflections on the sidelines improve the viewing experience for both spectators and athletes.

This innovative indirect LED lighting solution has significant benefits compared with traditional direct lighting in sports facility illumination. Indirect sports lighting addresses key concerns such as glare reduction, energy efficiency, and athlete safety. By providing uniform light distribution and minimizing glare, this approach creates improved visibility for both players and spectators, in indoor sports venues.
