Z-Wave Long Range Enables 1.5 Mile Wireless Connectivity

Z-Wave Long Range (ZWLR) offers significant benefits for the lighting industry, particularly in extending the reach and capabilities of smart lighting systems:

Extended Coverage: ZWLR provides a maximum wireless range of up to 1.5 miles when operating at full power. This extended range allows for the integration of lighting systems across larger properties, including outdoor areas, pathways, and even separate buildings on the same property.

Simplified Installation: The increased range eliminates the need for signal repeaters, reducing system complexity and installation costs for large-scale lighting projects. This makes it easier to deploy smart lighting solutions in commercial spaces, hospitality settings, and multi-dwelling units (MDUs).

Increased Scalability: ZWLR networks can support up to 4,000 nodes, allowing for the integration of a much larger number of lighting devices on a single network. This is particularly beneficial for commercial and industrial lighting applications.

Improved Battery Life: ZWLR devices can achieve up to 10-year battery life on a single coin cell battery, thanks to dynamic power control. This feature is especially valuable for battery-operated lighting sensors and controls in hard-to-reach areas.

Interoperability: ZWLR is designed to coexist with existing Z-Wave devices, ensuring backward compatibility and allowing for gradual upgrades of lighting systems.

Enhanced Reliability: By combining both mesh and star network topologies, ZWLR improves the overall reliability of lighting control systems, especially in large or complex installations.

These advancements in Z-Wave technology enable the lighting industry to extend its smart lighting offerings to larger scale opportunities in commercial, hospitality, and residential projects.
