LG plans to unveil two smart lamps that double as indoor gardening systems at CES 2025, this week. These new products combine lighting and plant-growing capabilities, offering a solution for urban dwellers with limited space.
The first product is a floor lamp with an integrated gardening base. This multifunctional device can accommodate up to 20 plants and features:
- A 1.5-gallon (5.6-liter) water reservoir for automatic plant watering
- A height-adjustable lamp providing downward-facing lights for plant growth
- An upward-facing mood light
- Autonomous plant care for up to a week
- Mobile app integration for remote monitoring and lighting adjustments
LG is also introducing a compact ‘side table’-style version of this product, catering to those who prefer a different form factor. Both designs aim to seamlessly integrate indoor gardening into living spaces without sacrificing floor area.
These smart lamps build on LG’s existing range of gardening products available in its home market, which includes:
- Smart planters
- Temperature-controlled gardening appliances
- Plant nutrients
- Seed kits for various plants (flowers, romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, perilla leaves, and green onions)
While LG has been selling these gardening products in South Korea, they have not been available in the US market. The upcoming CES event, this week, will likely reveal whether LG plans to introduce these smart indoor gardening solutions to the American market and provide information on pricing.
The autonomous features of these smart lamps, such as automatic watering and lighting, coupled with mobile app control, make them particularly appealing to those who may not have a “green thumb” or who travel frequently.
The introduction of these products at CES 2025 highlights the ongoing innovation in the smart home and urban gardening sectors. It also demonstrates how traditional electronics companies like LG are diversifying their product lines to address evolving consumer needs and lifestyle trends. These smart lamps are multifunctional, space-saving home appliances that blend technology with nature.
