In January of this year, LightNOW wrote about the first UL 924 emergency TLED from NaturaLED. The NaturaLED TLED is 3-CCT selectable. This introduction was greatly welcomed as it reduces life safety risks (and liability!) from emergency TLEDs without UL 924 listing. Those early EM TLEDs took their power from the G13 tombstones, creating the risk of the lamp being accidentally replaced with a standard TLED. That would eliminate the emergency function from the luminaire. More information on the NaturaLED lamp is available here.
A lot has happended since January! LEDvance launched their UL 924 EM TLED, their LEDlescent EMERGESAFE LED T8 EMBB. The LEDVANCE lamp is also 3-CCT selectable. Image below. More information is available here.
More recently, Keystone Technologies released their UL 924 Emergency TLED. Keystone’s is notably 5-CCT selectable. See image above. More information is available here.
Another significant TLED manufacturer has also shared with me that their UL 924 emergency TLED is completing product development shortly. That will make four manufacturers offering UL 924 EM TLEDs, when six months ago there were none. Distributors and contractors would be wise to immediately abandon the misleading EM TLEDs that take power from G13 sockets, and instead only select those that are hardwired per UL 924 requirements. For the first time, there are several manufacturers to choose from.
