Amazon Eliminating Private Brands For Lighting

Amazon Eliminating Private Brands For Lighting

Amazon.com announced in August that it is eliminating 27 of its 30 private label brands across home goods and apparel. Amazon Basics and Amazon Essentials will continue with opening price point apparel. The two Amazon private brands that offered residential lighting were Stone & Beam and Rivet. One published report said both of these private brands will be among those eliminated.

The website, Retail Dive, said a 2019 legal filing showed Amazon claimed 158,000 private label items across 43 brands selling on the site. Last month’s announcement is not the first private brand elimination announcement, but it is the largest such announcement yet.

The news should be welcomed by both lighting manufacturers selling on Amazon as well as those that aren’t. Read the full story on Dallas Market Center’s Daily Dose, here.
