The LIGHTFAIR conference and trade show recently postponed and then canceled its 2020 event in Las Vegas due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference organizers appear to be preparing to take the 2020 event online as a digital conference. This would be a welcome development.
Today, LIGHTFAIR emailed its speakers indicating interest in taking the conference online and polled speakers about their interest in doing a pre-recorded virtual session. The results will help determine whether the online conference will be viable and if so what sessions can be offered. The physical 2020 event had been scheduled with 85 sessions across six tracks.
This is an exciting development that I hope is successfully realized Over the past few weeks, dozens of tech conferences have moved online including Adobe Summit, Apple WWDC, Cisco Live, and others. A virtual LIGHTFAIR is technically feasible and would be a welcome opportunity in an industry hungry for education.
Stay tuned for more developments on this as LIGHTFAIR goes through its decision-making process.
