The National Electrical Manufacturers Association’s (NEMA) linear fluorescent lamp index continued a downward trend in the first quarter of 2019. Compared to Q118, T5, T8, and T12 lamps all posted a year-over-year decrease of 12.3 percent, 13.6 percent, and 2.8 percent, respectively.
The index showed mixed results for quarter-over-quarter comparisons with T5 and T8 posting increases of 4.1 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively, in 1Q 2019 compared to 4Q 2018. T12 shipments decreased by 16.5 percent in 1Q 2019 compared to 4Q 2018.
In Q119, TLED lamps accounted for 30.4 percent of linear lamp shipments. T8 lamps accounted for 50.9 percent of shipments while T5 and T12 lamps claimed 8.2 and 10.4 percent, respectively.
