States Enact Their Own Lighting Standards

Several states are responding to the Trump Administration’s proposed revision to general-service lamp energy standards by enacting their own.

For background, click here.

These states include:

  • Nevada enacted AB54
  • Colorado enacted HB19-1231
  • Vermont enacted H.411 (2017)
  • Washington enacted HB1444
  • California has Title 20, which apply 2020 federal standards to some lamps sold in state

Several other states are considering similar measures, at various stages of development.

Environmental and energy groups such as the Natural Resources Defense Council applauded these state initiatives. NRDC recently published a lengthy post here justifying state action.
