The Department of Energy’s Next Generation Lighting Systems (NGLS) program is accepting “requests for interest” from lighting manufacturers for participation in the NGLS outdoor evaluations of connected lighting parking lot systems, which will take place in the spring of 2019 at Virginia Tech Transportation Institute.
Organized by DoE’s Solid-State Lighting Program in partnership with the Illuminating Engineering Society and the International Association of Lighting Designers, NGLS evaluates today’s connected lighting systems in real-world installations, in order to identify challenges in installation and operation, reveal needed product improvements, and articulate principles and best practices that will reduce configuration complexity and enable system performance to meet expectations.
Upon acceptance by NGLS, individual parking lots will be assigned to entrants and specific site geometry and drawings will be provided. Submitted outdoor systems will be evaluated on their ability to meet the presence-detection performance, control-node performance, and lighting performance criteria.
Interested manufacturers can submit an inquiry directly to NGLS@PNNL.GOV.
