CSIL’s recent research publication, The Lighting Fixtures Market in the United States (July 2018, 190 pages, EUR 1,600), estimated that consumption of luminaires few at an average annual rate of 4.6% between 2012 and 2017, resulting in a $20 billion industry.
Other conclusions:
* Over 65% of lighting sales is handled by 50 companies.
* Nearly half of lighting is imported.
* LED share is now 65%.
My own reactions:
* It continues to be amazing how diversified the industry has become since white-light LEDs became commercialized.
* I thought given current construction spending the overall lighting market in the U.S. was larger than $20 billion.
* I thought at this point LED share was above 65%, at least 70+%.
