Philips Lighting (now Signify) recently announced it has developed a Li-Fi platform. Designed as a complement for Wi-Fi, this technology uses light as a medium for wireless Internet access. The system consists of Li-Fi-enabled luminaires (equipped with a special modem) and USB access keys or dongles.
Among the first Li-Fi-enabled luminaires are the company’s PowerBalance gen2 and LuxSpace downlight.
