CBC recently reported that an Ontario man woke up in the middle of the night to see bright and colorful light beams shooting from the ground up to the sky. He took a series of photos, which you can check out here.
According to NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, the photos depict a weather event known as light pillars, which appear when light reflects from ice crystals floating close to the ground. The extremely cold air formed ice crystals from the air, which reflected the city’s street and other lights.
