LightNOW’s take: LEDs are still only a tiny fraction of the total installed base but represent a large and growing portion of specifications in new construction. The vast majority of product development is focused on solid-state sources, with mature conventional lighting in technological (and now market) decline. LED still has plenty of room to grow as an illumination technology, with extraordinary new control capabilities; costs continue to decline. LED may not have won the war quite yet, but it’s clearly on a winning trajectory.
