OSRAM recently announced that despite substantial revenues gains with LED-based products in the third quarter of FY2014, its traditional general lighting business continues to decline, resulting in a marginal decrease in overall revenue. As a result, the company announced a plan to eliminate 7,800 positions globally.

Ligman Lighting USA, a manufacturer of specification-grade outdoor luminaires, has announced a series of “On-Line Voice-Narrated Technical Animated Installation Videos” for outdoor luminaires, providing installation instructions downloadable to desktops, tablets/iPads and smartphones. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association recently published three standards: ANSI C78.375-2014 American National Standard for Fluorescent Lamps—Guide for Electrical Measures, ANSI C136.25-2013 Roadway and Area Lighting Equipment—Ingress Protection (Resistance to Dust, Solid Objects, and Moisture) for Luminaire Enclosures, and ANSI C136.46-2013 American National Standard for Roadway and Area Lighting Equipment—Concrete Lighting Poles.
