The Illuminating Engineering Society has announced the Award of Merit Recipients for the 2013 IES Illumination Awards.
The Illumination Awards committee received 471 projects for consideration. From the submittals, 355 were scored sufficiently to receive an Award of Merit. The Merit Award projects receiving acceptable score levels were judged further for the highest award levels of Special Citation, Excellence and Distinction. Recipients of the highest award levels will be announced and recognized at the IES Illumination Awards Dinner, Sunday, October 27, 2013 in Huntington Beach, CA in conjunction with the Annual Conference. All award recipients will be announced in the November 2013 issue of LD+A magazine, published by the IES.
Judges are selected from a broad professional spectrum that represents knowledge of lighting and design excellence. The judging system is based entirely on how well the lighting design does or does not meet the program criteria.
The Guth, Waterbury, Cutler, Energy and Environmental Design Award sponsored by Osram Sylvania and the Control Innovation Award sponsored by the Lighting Controls Association are parallel programs created to recognize outstanding lighting design.
