POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Seattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, is one of the nation’s largest municipally owned utilities in terms of the number of customers served. Over the years we have worked very hard to keep Seattle’s electricity affordable, reliable, and environmentally sound. Today, City Light is a recognized national leader in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.
The Seattle City Light was instrumental in setting up the Lighting Design Lab in 1989. Today, City Light operates the Lab with sponsorship from the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance and electric utilities throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Mission of the Lab is:
“The Lighting Design Lab works to transform the Northwest lighting market by promoting quality design and energy efficient lighting technologies.”
This mission is accomplished by providing education and training, consultations, technical assistance, and demonstrations to commercial customers and lighting designers seeking information on high quality, energy efficient lighting technologies. The Lab is located in a separate facility in the SODO area.
The Marketing Development Coordinator reports directly to the Lighting Design Lab Manager. This position is expected to enhance the Lab’s visibility and presence in the region through marketing, advertising and web design. This position assists the Manager and the staff with basic administrative tasks including budgeting, financial process, class registrations and managing the LDL lighting library, and databases.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and coordinate the marketing/outreach plan for the LDL.
• Identify and establish outreach and marketing programs for the promotion of the LDL and its services. Maintain systems for attracting and retaining clients.
• Manage the designs and layout of LDL publications keeping a consistent brand image. Produce and publish the LDL Newsletter and E-Newsletter. Create and coordinate LDL brochures and other outreach pieces as needed.
• Facilitate, coordinate and schedule the regional classes and training offered by the LDL. Coordinate venues, assist with the preparation for training materials and manage class registrations.
• Maintain and update the LDL databases.
• Maintain client/vendor relationships through the promotion and publishing of the regional Lighting Design Lab’s LED List.
• Assist in the coordination and implementation of the LDL Annual Open House.
• Manage the LDL Website. Make daily/weekly changes to website and update with new information (i.e.: classes, events, mockups, publications, etc.)
• Coordinate communication/reporting with LDL funding partners.
• Assist with administrative tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: A baccalaureate degree in marketing, business administration, or related field.
Experience: Two or more years of experience in developing or implementing marketing plans and (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

• Experience working with energy conservation and lighting concepts and terminology.
• Experiencing marketing public services. Experience with graphics layout/design. Experience creating brochures, flyers and course materials.
• Experience managing websites with Drupal or similar CMS.
• Experience coordinating the administrative tasks associated with providing training courses.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Publisher, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Proficient in Adobe and Photoshop.
• Proficient in Constant Contact and PayPal Pro.
• Knowledge of Google Analytics.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to individuals and groups. Ability to work independently or on a team.
