Researchers at Wake Forest University have produced what they say is a new light bulb–shatterproof, flicker-free, highly efficient, long lasting, and with a color quality that matches daylight.
The technology is field-induced polymer electroluminescent. This technology has been around a while but has never produced enough light to be competitive as a lamp. The researchers doped the polymer with carbon nanotubes, increasing output by about five times.
