It is with great sadness that I report that John Nadon, Business Development Manager for Jesco LED Lighting Solutions, passed on Thursday, June 16 at the age of 59.
With an early background in theater arts as a college instructor, independent stage designer and architectural lighting designer, John Nadon is a well known figure in the lighting industry. He is best known for development of technology advances and contemporary design into practical fixtures and their application. He managed teams that developed and patented scores of award-winning, best-selling lighting products over the past 30 years.
Before joining Jesco, John served as the Business Unit Manager for Zumtobel Lighting’s Point Source division; as VP of Marketing for the Prescolite and Moldcast division of Lighting Corporation of America (now part of Hubbell Lighting Corporation); as the Product and Marketing Manager for Calculite and Director of Specification Lighting Products for Lightolier, a division of the Genlyte Group, now part of Philips; and as the International Sales and Project Design Manager of Litelab Corporation.
Not many people in the industry know that John was also an accomplished artist as well as a discerning art collector. Here are just a few of his many works:
John was one of the most interesting people I’ve known in the industry, if not in general. He was a true intellectual, a mentor worth having, somebody I was proud to call my friend as well as a colleague. I always learned from him and laughed in his company. He will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in John’s name to either The Foundation for Advancement in Cancer Research or the Center for Hope Hospice and Palliative Care.
Update: A memorial service will be held in Manhattan on Thursday, June 30, at 5:30 PM at 236 W 30th Street, 14th Floor. Please RVSP via email to lnadon3 at gmail dot com by June 24 if you are interested in attending.
