GE Appoints Maryrose Sylvester President and CEO of GE Lighting

GE Home & Business Solutions today announced that Maryrose Sylvester has been named president and CEO of GE Lighting. GE Home & Business Solutions, an $8.6B business, includes the Appliances & Lighting and Intelligent Platforms operating units. These global businesses offer their customers appliances, lighting, embedded/control systems and software platforms.

Sylvester, who will report to GE Appliances & Lighting President & CEO James P. Campbell, succeeds Michael Petras who has led GE Lighting since 2008. Petras is leaving GE to take a position outside of the company.

Sylvester is a 23-year GE veteran, 14 years of which were spent at GE Lighting. She has led GE Intelligent Platforms, a global provider of software, hardware, services, and expertise in automation and embedded computing, since 2006. Sylvester grew revenues nearly two times during her tenure by focusing on technology leadership, new product introductions and strategic acquisitions around Software, Controls and Communications and Military and Aerospace Embedded Computing, including the most recently completed acquisition of SmartSignal, a provider of remote monitoring and diagnostics solutions to the power generation, oil and gas and other industrial sectors. She also led the creation of the new Intelligent Platforms, following the dissolution of the 23-year joint venture with FANUC LTD of Japan. During her previous tenure at GE Lighting, she held a variety of roles of increasing responsibility including president and CEO of GE Lighting Systems, general manager of Worldwide Sourcing and director of Sourcing for GE Lighting Europe, based in Budapest, Hungary.
