Lithonia Lighting has announced the introduction of RTLED, a volumetric-distribution recessed luminaire that delivers white general lighting. The luminaire is powered by an advanced Samsung LED light engine to deliver high color rendering (80+ CRI), 3500K color temperature, and full range dimming with 0-10VDC control, enabling the luminaire to adjust light output to eliminate the energy waste of overlighting. It also tracks its own operating hours and provides a visual indicator when the luminaire has reached the end of its service life.
RTLED became available starting June 1, 2010 through Lithonia Lighting agents.
LightNOW’s take: General lighting products like this are a real milestone in the development of LED lighting, particularly great when the manufacturer invests in good lighting quality. Most impressive is the fact the luminaire tracks its operating hours and signals the user that it has reached the end of its estimated service life. Few other products have addressed the issue of how the user will know when the product has “failed” even though it is still operating.
