The Lighting Quotient (formerly SRSDI), parent company of Elliptipar and Tambient, has announced a new $2,500 student scholarship.
In honor of Sylvan R. Shemitz, founder of the company, it has partnered with the IES to sponsor a scholarship for second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-year undergraduate or graduate students in accredited lighting degree programs.
Students are required to submit a 1,500-word essay titled “The Next Generation of Lighting: How would you bring a historical lighting installation into the next generation of sustainability?” to demonstrate their understanding and vision for the future of the architectural lighting industry.
This year’s scholarship value is $2,500. The Lighting Quotient has also established an endowment, starting with a $50,000 donation, and will annually award a scholarship to one student based on the dividends of the endowment.
The deadline to submit is May 1, 2010.
